Cottage Circa 1870’s, Bathurst NSW – Paint Colour, Design Advice and Bathroom Design

DSCN1490

The busy owners of this gorgeous 1870’s cottage had just moved in and wanted to put their stamp on the building whilst still being sympathetic to the architecture, style and age of the home.

For a small investment, our clients hired us to put together some colour design choices for the exterior and interior of the home including tiles for the front porch, flooring advice, furniture and lighting advice as well as what they could do with their out-dated kitchen to bring it more in keeping with the rest of the home – without too much expense. We provided some mood boards with tessellated-look tiles (without the expense), exterior paint colour schemes, interior paint colour schemes, from which they fell in love with the Grey stone and red doors of Ireland scheme for the exterior and the beautiful sage greens and soft off-whites of the Haymes Traditional Paints selections for the interior. The interior colour design included stains for the fireplace surrounds, paint colour for walls, ceilings, kitchen cabinetry and advice on flooring.

From this easy, convenient and satisfying experience our clients engaged us again to help them re- design the out-dated ‘Mediterranean’ style bathroom renovated from the previous owner, which they wanted to restore to something more in keeping with the age of the 1870’s home. We put together a design that they absolutely loved with Pressed tin panels from Bathurst’s very own Pressed Tin Panels on The Vale Road, Black and white tessellated-look floor tiles, dramatic black and white free-standing bath, old fashioned tapware, vanity and storage and as well as moving the bath and toilet into new positions to utilise a better layout and maximising the initial visual impact when entering the bathroom – all on a modest budget. My hat’s off to our clients – they really put some great effort into the whole project.
